The Company’s Garden

The Company’s Garden is a hit with children and it’s easy to see why. Buy a bag of peanuts from the vendors at the entrance to feed the squirrels, take a leisurely stroll through the beautiful gardens and end the outing off with something to eat and drink at the great Company’s Garden restaurant.

Oranjezicht City Farmers Market

The farm is a non-profit project, connecting the community through food, culture and urban farming. The farm is open to the public but it's at the Granger Bay weekly market where its fresh produce is sold that the real magic happens. Every Saturday and Sunday the market thrives with locals shopping for fresh produce, enjoying a huge array of different brunch options at one of the communal tables. There are also stores selling plants, spices, coffees, cheeses, olive oils, fresh flowers, clothes, antiques and much more. 

Castle of Good Hope 

The Castle of Good Hope is the oldest surviving colonial building in the country. Guided tours of the Castle are conducted from Monday to Saturday at 11 am, 12 noon and 2 pm, while each weekday at 10 am and 12 pm a Key Ceremony is performed, replicating the ceremonial unlocking of the Castle in olden times. It is followed by the firing of the signal cannon. Horse-and-carriage rides of an hour are conducted daily at 10.30am, 12.45pm and 2.45pm, and can also be arranged at sunset. Meals can be enjoyed at De Goewerneur Restaurant. Another novel adventure that starts at the Castle is a tour of the underground tunnels that once channelled the canals and rivers that brought fresh water to the city. These tours last between one and three hours and take you on a fascinating tour of the past.

Two Oceans Aquarium

With more than 3000 creatures and 88 species on show, the aquatic entertainment land gives both adults and little ones the chance to come face-to-face with predators of the deep, fish as multi-coloured as the most vibrant rainbow, crabs the size of toddlers and feathered friends so lovable they don’t mind a soft pat on the head.
